I'd love to see how you dig the hole. If I was doing multiple poles, I'd rent an auger...otherwise it's a long spade and post holer (which doesn't sound fun at all).

It was recommended to me that a 4X4 post would need a 12" diameter hole. 6X6 would need 16"-18".

Or so I was told. I wimped out with the digging and went to adding posts to my deck instead.

yeah a 3x diameter hole is about right, along with the 1/3 of the post buried rule, both are what i've been told as well. idk if i'm gonna want to spend the $$$ to rent an auger, i'll just man up and dig it myself.

Look up the thread about poly-pro straps and replace your slap straps. I bet you can find the replacement straps at Home Depot. Then you won't have to deal with the stretch of the slap straps.
Sorry I can't search and post the link off my phone.

they're not THE slap straps, they're like them though. another user here on this forum sold 'em to me along with a tarp, they're just webbing with loops on the ends so they work like slap straps, but not with the multiple loops on the working end. but thanks for the tip, i'll see what the search brings up and if it benefits me vs what i have now, i'll be sure to switch 'em out.
