i've got some material like that - it started supposedly as 1.9oz nylon with a heavy coating making it completely waterproof and tough. i've got army digital ACU and marine digi woodland.

I am new to this forum, and it looks like everyone already had their drooling secession over this hammock. But let me just say that is one of the most awesome ideas that I have ever seen. I have to know how you made this. Are there other packs like this out there, is there a name for this kind of pack, I have so many questions. Let me know ASAP...Please!
God Bless,
Kyle

Welcome to the forums. The pack design is called gearskin. It is made by Moonbow. As far as I know they still sell them. They offer you different options and features. This is my first attempt at making one. I added the bridge hammock feature to it. I have promised an article on how to make it and have started it. I got caught up on TEEDEE's bridge hammock article and I am still trying to digest all his brillent ideas. After reading (actually I skimmed it and looked at the pictures so far) I realized that my article shouldn't be about how to make a bridge hammock, but how to make the part that converts from a pack to a hammock. There are much better resources than me for how to make a bridge hammock. Thank you for the compliment.

Dutch,
I too have been trying to wade through the new article by Teedee. I have no idea what what most of it means, and I feel more like a first grader trying to read a NASA rocket science report. Haha but it is some amazing stuff. I look forward to the article from you about your pack/hammock (probably not the right term). I have made tents and packs before, and the idea of making a hammock and getting to integrate it into a pack is exciting.

Kyle,
as said it's a hybrid gearskin/bridge hammock or strappack.

It's a truly ingenius idea, & a very nice way of putting it together by Dutch.
pretty clever. it does a lot of things but it doesn't look like it does any of them the way i'd want it to.
You need to post your directions for this, I want to make a set for my boys and surprize them next christmas.
