SOLD: Whipped end hammocks for sale - $50 shipped

Being a newb, I thought this was the greatest thing ever, and was convinced that others would think so too. So, since my wife sells at craft fairs somewhat often, I figured I would make up some hammocks and sell them alongside her items. Well, her stuff is all gone, and I still have all my hammocks. Rather than paying for more craft fairs just to continue not selling, I am trying here.

I have 2 each of Green, Orange, and Red, all 11ft long, made of 1.9oz ripstop with whipped ends. I also have one 10ft red if you prefer something a bit shorter. Suspension is not included as I doubt you want the cheap poly rope I was going to include, they do come with a stuff sack though. Weigh in at 13oz each in the sack. I am asking $50 shipped. That gets you $5 worth of shipping and about 4 yards of $7 material, with all 4 sides hemmed. Anyone who has made their own spear I think will attest that me doing the 11ft long hems is worth $17 each.

Pics below are of me in the 10 footer.

    Update 11/19/10:
The 10ft red and a green are sold, I have remaining:
    2x 11ft Red
    2x 11ft Orange
    1x 11ft Green

great job bro. I was wondering when someone would crank out some affordable, simple, hammocks. I am not in need, but just happy about capitalism at work!

p.s. an 11ft. Hem is worth more, wait till you try an UQ. You'll realize the prices of items are very reasonable.

    good luck with your sale.

I'm not the least bit surprised you didn't sell them at craftfairs. Those folks are, pardon the pun, Crafty. Now if I were a crafty person tooling around my area's craftshows, I highly doubt I'd buy a 50$ hammock regardless of who was selling them at that price. the 'ol adage "when in Rome do as the Romans do." comes to my mind.

just like your wife would have very little luck, i'm guessing, selling here crafty bits and bobs at a monster truck rally, an outdoor sporting goods expo.

I'd bet many would say as they walked away from your table , I could make that myself for less, and if I can't do it Aunt Peggy will hem it up for me.

It'd be like selling quality IEM's [in ear monitors] to replace the garbage apple sells you with an Ipod at the same craft fairs, good friggin' luck man.

there are niche markets with forums dedicated to them all around the WWW, no matter your interest you can find more expensive alternatives to what you can buy at wally world.

an example that blew my mind coming here to this forum and backpacking circles in general. the soda pop alcohol stove takes the cake. now tell me 10 names of "regular" folks about your town that would buy a "stove made from a pop can" for 5 or 10 bucks, they would tell you your nuts.

you should fair much much better slinging them here.
now your in Rome amongst the Romans

that concludes this days rambling on

    Best of Luck,

    Peace,

You know, at $50 this is a steal. I'm totally happy with my first hammock. Just set it up with whoopies and dutch clips and I couldn't be more pleased. Comfortable as all get out. If I weren't saving for an under quilt, I'd get another.
