My GF has them and she loves them.
I dont have any pics.
We mostly kayak camp, and car camp so weight isnt an issue for us.
I believe they produce just enough light for her to study by.
So far they seem pretty durable, they have been on about half a dozen trips so far.
My brother got me these last Christmas. They are nice, easy on batteries and are fairly lightweight. The LEDs are bright enough to read by at night and are a neat way to mark your site at night.
i like them but not the price compared to these which are just an example of thousands for a buck or two http://cgi.ebay.ca/BATTERY-power-OPE...ht_2444wt_1139
Perfect timing because I too saw them for sale through REI and think that they would be really nice to have. But...no reviews.
Thanks!
Walmart has them in the holidays isle.
I got two sets of lights at Home Depot. Each string has 20 LED lights running from 3 AA batteries. $5.00 per set. Fairly light. They won't be in the kit all the time, but are fun. They look really cool at night when hung on the BB structural ridge line. I'll post some pics of them after our hike this weekend.

I hung out in the backyard last night - just because I could. Here's a shot of the lights on (no flash)...
And here's a shot with a little bit of flash just to give an idea of the setup...
Hitting the trail this morning... more pics to come.
