I have considered raising one end of my tarp and/or over cover to reduce condensation. My theory is that the vapor seems to seek the highest spot and this might allow more vapor to escape before it condensates. One down side might be if the low end of the tarp drips and runs down into the hammock, but would probably be no worse than normal.

I did experience some frozen condensation on the netting of my BB. This was also in 18* weather while at Mt Rogers last year when we had 12"-18" of snow (pending which source you are referencing). I think these military PL breathe exceptionally well but as was mentioned in another thread (the one you also posted in...) I think the water vapor condenses much faster in colder weather therefore it is not able to pass through the PL quick enough. Not sure if there is another material that will meet what you are asking for.

I do know that Paul make the BBO for the WBBBs, maybe you could ask him or he can post here about the material he uses. . . any suggestions Paul ???

Part of what happens with moisture-laden breath is that the moisture condenses and freezes when it encounters sufficiently cold air. If that encounter occurs at your PL or other top cover, that's where it will freeze.

So far as I know, the only way to avoid such condensation/freezing/frost build-up is to vent the warmer, moisture-laden air around/away from the cover, perhaps by creating an opening in the top cover. Doing so will cause some heat loss, but might help to avoid frost condensation.

Does using a DriDucks poncho as an OC provide enough breathability to prevent condensation? Do you open the hood to act as a vent or close the hood?

I only seemed to have condensation where the Tarp and PL touched. as I only had one side of the tarp staked out. The Condensation was between the PL and Tarp, so if tarp wasnt touching the PL there wouldn't have been any Condensation.
