amsteel slips through rings in garda hitch

amsteel slips through the rings in the garda hitch on my DIY hammock. What's the stuff Hennessy uses on their hammock ends? It's very sturdy and doesn't slip. Alternately, how do you attach the amsteel (whoopies) to the tree huggers/poly strap?

    thanks, sky

Attach 1 ring into the end of each tree-strap. Larkshead the amsteel into the ring.

This will give you a fully attached suspension system.
Wrap the huggers around the tree, adjust the whoopies as needed, and presto you are done.

This is how I do it.

    See this thread.

Spectra sheathed polyester rope is what Hennessey uses. If your Garda Hitch is slipping, make more rounds around both rings before running between them. Two is all you will need most likely.

Whoopies can be attached any number of ways. If your sliding loop is at the tree hugger you will need something like a wire gate 'biner or the Dutch Biner so you have free flow of the cord as you adjust. If it is the fixed end, use Rugs method.

My method slides just fine. See pic #2 and #3.
I just 'lock it' (pic #1) when everything is set.

IMHO a Garda hitch shouldn't be used with am steel. Too much chance of it crushing and cutting the rope. I'd only use the Garda with webbing.

One thing I learned making videos is to keep up with what members wanna see at that time. Figured to do it s-l-o-w-l-y..... Really, then I don't have to answer and type as many explanations.
    Really glad it helped ya'll.
But there are so many more ways now to do the tree hugger whoopie deal.
