I'd trade a variety of S-biners of different sizes for a few knotbones if anybody wishes. I wonder how hard it'd be to homebrew a few of those things? The KnotBone looks simple enough.

I haven't gotten mine yet. I will have to check it out when it comes...

Interesting idea, how much do they weigh?
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )
Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

measured one of the knot bones and it barely registers a gram.

I believe whoopieslings.com has them listed for $0.55.

I have one of Whoopie Slings two piece ridgleine kits, and it uses the knotbone. Awesome little piece of kit, and its weight is, well, negligible. You can balance it in the palm of your hand, and the only reason you know it is there is the feeling of the edges against the skin. They are light, they are easy to use, and they WORK.
Over the Remembrance Day weekend (Nov 11 through the 14), I went for a nice, relaxing hang in Larabee State Park south of Bellingham, WA (car camping on my motorcycle). On more than one occasion over the weekend, there were very high winds. The knotbones held firm and secure.
If one is already proficient with knots, does this serve any purpose?
Sure, there's one less knot to tie! Also one less knot to untie. But YMMV as with most tools.
