On my first real trip with hammocks, I ended up tying one strap ( webbing with carabiner, WBBB) around a bay tree, the other around a redwood. My daughter's set up was around a bay tree and a live oak. Her suspension stayed put for 2 nights; my webbing slipped down on the redwood. After the first night's slippage, I readjusted the webbing up higher again, but the same thing happened again. The bark on the redwood is soft, but not so soft that the webbing would just choke it and dent it...on this tree the bark was about 4 " thick, ridged vertically, and quite "spongy".
What is your experience with redwoods, or similar trees, if there are any? Keep in mind that I am new to this so very technical talk will go right over my head.
Didn't have enough webbing to set up around this one.
( that's my daughter in there)
