I remember the snow of 96 well. Snowed us in for DAYS. ...in Alabama. I bet up in the mountains, it was amazing!

    Looking forward to this.

There was 3 feet at my house that year.
With snowshoes we'll be able to get back to Carvers Gap but if there is a record setting amount there I'd hope to have several days of food in the trunk. Those kind of snows if wet can shut down the electrical grid for miles and miles-plowing the road to Carvers may not be a priority for them at least for a few days.
One can only wish for the 100 year snow!

Alright guys don't laugh but I remembered that I was given a small grill for Christmas a few years back so I pulled it out of the attic, its the best I can do without going out and buying one.

I always have several days worth of food, blankets, a sterno stove, and of course a deck of playing cards in my truck. Although I would rather be stuck on the side of the mountain with the Swedish All-Girl snowboarding team, I guess you guys would be fun too. Just not that kind of fun.

I did send an invitation to said snowboarding team. Since I never heard back from them, I invited you guys.

Mister Dark, nc winterhiker, which would you prefer, the grill grate or the grill? I'm sure either would work fine.

I am cool either way. All I use is a plain-jane grate, so it will require a little bit of work to set up some kind of "stands"; I always just use 4 small rocks or two logs. ncw's setup is more "complete", but a good bit heavier.

I say we bring both, and have a cooking contest!

Sounds good to me...I will also bring a bag of ice to keep things cold just kidding seriously though I want to bring something else. Any suggestions?

On another note I just finished my first DIY pulk sled, everything was free so I went for it. I do plan on buying a better sled for next winter. I plan on attaching it to an old pack that I am going to carry all by cloths and insulation, then carry my food, tarp and camp items in my other pack on the pulk along with the grill, ax and shovel (its not a snow shovel) but it'll due. I do plan on making several trips for firewood.
