After reading Law Dawg's thread with his rednecks setup. I found the Byers Vario stand on ebay made an offer for $75.00 and got it. Now I can hang in my backyard. Now the neighbor's will know I've gone apes!

congratulations on the stand..........your neighbors will just have to accept you, you are doing this in your yard!!!!!!!! If you haven't noticed we are trying to get a hang going here in Bama. The thread is the Heart of Dixie Hang, check it out and maybe come on down and join us...........

I saw the Heart of Dixie Hang and want to attend, but have our trail club Christmas party on Saturday. Tempted to hang Friday night go to party Saturday afternoon and return afterwards...a lot of driving since party is in Alabaster.
I might as well throw mine in here--I built a hang lab in the back yard--just a 16-foot 4X4 and the end of the deck. But as you see, my son and wife gave birth to the first snowman of the season, Mr. Winchester, right there in the sweet spot. D'oh! That inspired yesterday's indoor unheated hang lab--dubbed "The Meat Locker." Clocked temps from 24F to 16F last night. I survived about an hour out there before giving up and heading to a peopled and warm bed upstairs. It's a handy "transition space" between actual outdoor weather condx and heated indoors. I noted a +4F difference between my outdoor sensor and the indoor Meat Locker.
I kind of overbuilt the Meat Locker, but it won't drop me on the floor and allows me to experiment with two tree-like parallel "goalposts."

Lyodom,
That stand look very nice. It may suit my needs as well. If you don't mind, I have a couple of questions.
1. Does it easily come apart into conveniently small pieces for portability and storage?
2. Is it reasonably light weight (compared to lugging around 2"x6"s) ?
Not sure about portablity. It was super easy to put together. The end/upright pieces attach with a knob/bolt. The platform has 4 nuts and bolts. It weighs 60 lbs. I have seen wheel attachments for other hammock stands.
1. Define "convieniently small pieces". I could break mine down to fit in the 2010 Outback but it would take up more space than I would like. I'd say 5 to 7 pieces would be the way I would break it down.
2. It is hefty but I'm guessing nothing compared to a homebuilt wood stand.
"I don't know about the HH but working out the right combo set up for the Byer and the WBBB is ongoing (it still ain't bad, just not where I want it yet)."
Law Dawg - are you saying you've tried the Byer with a WBBB and it doesn't work quite right?
I'm looking for a lighter (lighter than 2 x 4's) stand to use inside - preferably aluminum...
That's a WBBB I have hanging on the picture above.
