    TreeBoat Hammocks

I just came across these and heven't heard anything in my short time around here. Seems to be another different take on the bridge hammock.

    Anyone have thoughts on them?

They appear to be very heavy and very expensive. "Light comfortable and cheap", I'd like to at least pick two.

Thats one crazy hammock company! Even the accessories are overpriced! I'm thinking buying a complete setup would run you twice what a top notch Hammock Forums Cottage bundle would.

Yoicks, 4+ lbs just for the hammock? no. I'm fine at 3 lbs. including the tarp, stakes and insulation.

    Smile Looks like...

...these folks are more about climbing trees.

I suspect that they carry enough gear that they are not overly concerned with weight on the order of a few extra pounds.

Frankly, if I were considering hanging more than a foot or two above the ground, weight would be absolutely my LAST concern. Strength, stability, reliability---all would be priorities, but not weight.

After all, any fall is potentially fatal. That is why I inspect my suspension every time I hang my hammock and give all the lines and knots a once-over every time I get in.

Now that I think of it... Never mind the fall... If one is out in even moderately foul weather, hammocking or tenting, gear failure can be fatal.

Better a little too safe than a little too sorry.

+1 on BBQDad´s answer. All the gear they have are geared towards climbing, staying and living in the top of threes... Wouldn't wanna skimp on durability and strenght at 50ft height - the forrest floor aint that soft!
