Less than one year. I haven't spent the night in one yet. I bought a cheap one but it didn't hold up. Lesson learned.

Almost 5, my first was an early model Clark jungle hammock. I use an HH ultralight now, with a newer Clark NA for cold weather. I've converted two of my hiking buds to hammock hangers- pass the word!

A little over a year. I was one of the first members on this site when it was created. Man it has come a long way.

I started Summer of 2001 with a mesh hammock from Campmor, upgraded to a Hennessy in the Summer of 2002. Oh the memories of that first hammock

I always carried at least a net hammock while backpacking as a boy scout.
On warm nights I would just sleep in it, instead of my tent.
I did not really realize that following and the options that Hammock Camping had until just recently (about 2 years ago)
    Hooked ever since.

i thinks its great we got a lot of newbies with less than a year hammocking
that shows that hammock hanging is catching on neo
