I bought the 12, and yes it is big, but I have not used any other tarp, so I really can't compare. I like being able to set it up with the ends having doors so to speak. In the summer, I may want something smaller, but we will see when the time comes.

    Thumbs up

I have the 12 and I love it, I set it up in a rectangle and have folded the corners in a door formation which worked well. The price is right and the quality is even better.

I use the 12' with the corners folded in for doors as my winter tarp and really liked it. In summer weather I've just used the small HH tarp.

I have the Noah 12, and I love it, except for the weight. Hang it on the square, and it fits my setup very well. There are a multitude of setup options here, including as a Baker hut and pulling the ends in to be a "tent." Overall, this is an excellent tarp, if you don't mind the 2lbs 8oz (with tie-outs and stakes).

I bought this with the intention of replacing it within the year. I do a mix of car camping, backpacking and canoeing, so I figure I will still get plenty of use out of the Noah 12, while I reserve my yet to be purchased lighter tarp for backpacking trips, but the Noah 12 will likely be my goto tarp for probably 10 outings a year.

Just got a Noah 12 yesterday.... Great tarp for the money, I debated between the 9 and 12 but the limitations in setup of the 9 made my choice easy. I was looking for a cheap winter tarp and in tent set up with doors this one will work just fine. I was surprised at how light it actual is... I need to weigh it and get an accurate weight on this thing...

    9 vs 12, the debate

I'm debating the same thing, whether to go with the 9 or 12... I think I'm leaning towards the 9, just to save the weight as I will be using it primarily for backpacking.

Here is a diagram I whipped up to help me decide (the oval is based on the area of the Hammock Bliss No-See-Um):

I bought a 12, have used them before & found I like being able to "close the door" especially in public areas ( ain't like at the bike rally where ya just drop the drawers and change ) I have a tadpole I bought 2nd hand too and although I haven't had it up other than inside, yet, I would be surprised if it doesn't become my primary tarp.
I'd do a Noah 12 for versatility and when you can pick up great deal on a light weight tarp, pull the trigger on that too. Then you have the best of both worlds.

I'm with river pirate I have both and the 12 is more versatile. Hang it square it's perfect it will give you plenty of shade, rain, wind protection or privacy. You can hang it as a wind break and still see the stars.

I own the 9 and it is plenty large for my needs. They are good values, but eventually you will upgrade to a lighter tarp from one of our venders.
