AmSteel not known in the UK

I have been following the threads about whoopees and I am planning to replace my stock Hennessey solid core with AmSteel with whoopie slings but I have hit on a problem - AmSteel is unknown here in England. I suspect that it is available, but called something else. Does anybody know what the trade name might be here or give me a technical name for this type of cord? Thanks.

Not sure if this will help you, or if they ship overseas, but this is the website that most people go to to order amsteel:

    http://reddenmarine.com/marine-suppl...ot-orange.html

It only costs $.20 per foot of 7/64" line, and you wouldn't need any more than 40' of it for a suspension for one hammock, so even if the overseas shipping is a bit pricey, it still shouldn't cost that much.

Amsteel is a rope product created by Samson Rope. Amsteel is the only trade name as it is a unique line of products to Samson. Samson distributes world wide and there are a handful of dealers throughout the UK so I am surprised you can't find it in the UK.

Edit: If you really can't find it, I'd be happy to acquire some for you and put it in an envelope to send to you. Shouldn't cost too much.

Yeah, Dyneema SK-75 is the fiber name for Amsteel-Blue. Dyneema SK-60 is the fiber name for regular Amsteel.

Just remember, when making whoopie slings for a Hennessy hammock, you need to leave at least a foot in between the end loop, and the tensioning splice so that you have enough line to properly connect the end loop to the hammock. You can see what I am talking about in this video:

    Hi britcoms,
same prob over here in Germany. I mailed to reddenmarine, but they didn't even answer. There seemed to be a company in Austria (forest business etc.), but same result: no answer. Good luck when searching ... Maybe we here in Europe have to build up a kind of buying group to get some stuff from US by reasonable rates.
    Greetings from B.
