Hey lonetracker ..... you are living up to your moniker!!!!!!
Fantastic mods and idea on the tarp ..... really like the off-center ridgeline idea!!!!!!! Nice to have all that room on one side.
Even though I have never hunted ... I would love to have been on that trip.
The martin eating the deer nose was a harrowing tale with my morning brew .... Thankee for the horror!
Glad am I that you had a safe and terrific trip and the bear and coyotes were just visitors.

AWESOME report and pics... Thanks for sharing...
Brilliant adaptation for the conditions! I love it when a hunt goes well. I hafta say tho, I don't envy those conditions; at least it looks like you had the whole place to yourself! 7hanks for the report.

i surely am.i am a lucky man...allthough some people after i describe my deer hunt to them look at me as if i am nuts.so i would guess nightmare for them.one guy told me "i wouldn't do that if the deer had golden hoofs"
i think its awesome also.
get well soon and get back on the track.
oops did not think you would notice them gonethe rifle is dead on.
yes this is were i got it from...and lonerangers allredy been done..
there is a lot up here to miss.come back for a visit.the u.p. misses you too.
thankyou and you are welcome.
thanks.i go round and round with the heat issue.it would be nice to be able to dry out.wood heat would be great for that.that is the biggest issue i have not fully addressed.i bring about 12 wool sweaters, and sets of long underwear with me.about 5 wool pants.a couple wool flannels and vests.a few sleeping bags, and blankets, and two hammocks this year.that is how i beat drying cloths i bring enough to go fresh allmost every day.if it is going to be wet again i often put the wet pants back on in the morn if they are not froze to solid.woolwarms up fast.it is also amazeing what you can dry on the defroster of your truck.
the main reason i do not want the wood heat is it messes with my mobility.i move to follow the snow if i have to. the stove is one more thing to move.the added chore of cutting perfect sized firewood also turns me away.and going to bed toasty only to wake every few hours cold having to stoke the fire also worries me.i sleep really warm the way i do it now.lots of plusses and minuses maybe someday i will try it.
thank you and you are welcome.hope you had a good time.

Great to see your hunt and trip report. It looks like a great time to spend some time in the woods. I know that you have a system that works well for you.
thanks
i love it up there.there is one log road i call majestic veiw drive
(not really named that or any other name).lined with rock bluffs.i tried taking pictures but just can not capture the,can not find words to describe,of it in a pic.
good luck and keep trying.i find a satisfying hunt is often more in the trying then in the getting it done...succes and veni are nice though
thanks.i have no doubt you will.there are lots of adventures out there waiting to be found.or to find you
well then thanks, thanks.thought you looked familiar.it is hard having two forum families to share trips with.i re wrote the trip a little and showed some differant pics.and of course gave a better hammock gear rundown here.
it worked well.many more stakes to put in and guylines to duck though.but i needed that room i had five totes of cloths/bedding in there and a small chair.it all stayed snow free!!
i would have loved to have you.i think it would be neat to show you some tracking, and wander some remote backcountry.you have to wear all wool though that backpacking cloths is to noisey in the bush.you do not need to tote a gun to hunt.you are a hunter i learned that quick at last summers hang after your first camara ambush...nicely done i had no idea you were there.
nose eating martin thought he was something.i took his beligerance in stride because i do not eat the deers nose anyway.thats all that saved him from going in the pot.
thanks
do not go away jealous!!start planning
thanks and your welcome
thank you and your welcome.i am glad you liked it.
thanks.the three prior years i used my clark and that little tarp.then i got a 8x10 blue tarp then went to 10x 12 in heavier then heck grey.then i found hammock forums and yeaaaa .i learned how to do it better+++
the conditions were a little ruff.the country is up and down, thru a swamp then over a rocky pass in a ridge..repeat.the weather was warmer this year i think because i was the most prepared for it.prior years saw allot of 10 and 15 deg mornings.and a few blizzards that had me cutting trees out of the road with my bowsaw to be able to get out of there.
i have seen one other person in the woods up there in the last four seasons.thats me averageing about 8 miles of walking around a day, seeing no one.deer numbers are very low also around 10 per square mile.it is also a 52 mile round trip to get phone reception.
thanks for looking all
