I know a little about cameras and filming options. The BIG question is how much do you want to spend.. the Kodak Playsport is a good choice for the type of stuff that goes on around here. As with most flip style cameras. If you want better sound quality, then a camcorder with mic-in is the way to go. Shotgun mics pick up on sound much better than any type of built in mic. You could also go with a remote mic. Les Shroud used one in most of the Survivorman series. Thats why when he speaks farther away from the camera its sounds like he is right on top of you..

Currently I'm using a Panasonic HDC-TM15 with a wide angle lens and a VholdR Contour HD 1080p helmet cam with a 135 degree lens. I might add my MiniDV back into the mix cause its the only one left with a mic port.

Does the Kodak take stills very well? I've had issues with Kodak auto focus in the past and swore off of them. Has this problem been fixed?
