6' and probably a few over 300 at the moment. I just picked up a 1.7 DL BB a couple of weeks ago, has been great. I do the left side sleep too, and I think it's leaps and bounds more comfortable than my modded Eno DN.

Thanks fellas! Oh, because when I consider myself large (at 6-3 260) a thread like this comes up and I get to ask myself if I even qualify to post. Y'all are simply the best.

When I ordered the WBBB my debate was with the 1.1 double or the 1.7. The 1.7 won out but judging from some of the coments here a 1.1 would have been plenty good enough for me. Still like my 1.7 though...room to grow!

I'm trying to get down to your weight so I can call myself large instead of extra-large. Just glad to know I'm not the only one. Thanks to all for their posts. I do see a dbl 1.7 in my future.

I have a 1.7 double BB and I weigh 275 lbs and I am very comfortable in mine. On a camping trip a couple of months ago I ended up having to sleep in a tent as the camp site did not have any place to hang and that was the most miserable night I had after several night in my BB
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

Just ordered a Blackbird 1.7 DBL a few minutes ago. Will be setting it up in the barn as soon as it lands.

Next, I'm going to need new quilts and a Molly Mac Pack. New gear for 2011 is slowly coming together.

perhaps the design of the WBBB plays a factor in what combination of fabrics are comfortable for different sized users but it seems like 1.7DL is way over kill even for 300#. I haven't used a WBBB but in making my own hammocks i have used 1.9SL and 1.1DL and i am very happy with the comfort. I am 6'2" 300# +christmas(so maybe 320). i am sure a 1.9 DL or a 1.1 TL would be flatter and maybe i just don't know what i am missing but i am very comfortable in the 1.9sl and 1.1dl. i guess i will have to try a 1.1TL and see if that makes my hammock smile even bigger.

Wow, you are finally heavier than me... thankfully I didn't put on that much weight over Christmas and Thanksgiving.

A single layer hammock using 1.9 oz. would probably be fine for me. Unfortunately no one is making any at this time and I've heard enough good things about Brandons 1.7 DBL that I decided to give it a try. My DD Travel Hammock has been the most comfortable for me so far, compared to Eagles Nest, ENO's, and Claytor's, but I just wanted something a little bigger and with a better netting configuration so I decided to try Brandon's design.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with in the future and there is someone else working on a Cuben fiber hammock at the moment so I am eager to see what he comes up with as well since I am a Cuben geek.

being a new hanger and 6'2" and 270 i have had the same problems as you with finding (trusting) a hammock. i am going to be doing my own diy hammock made out of a single layer of 1.7 ripstop. from what i have read it should hold my weight. lets hope that it does!!! does anyone know what JoAnn fabrics ripstop is 1.7 or 1.9?
