    My gear choices for 2010.

Great thread with a lot of great gear to check out. My three are:

The Dutch Clips and Dutch Biners - Certainly they are a blessing for the less weight and less bulk crowd but I appreciate these simple, small and useful suspension items as being jsut plain cool.

BRKT knives - Discovered the convex grind this year and I love the ease of sharpening and the great edge retention. I have a Bravo 1, an Aurora and a model from a limited batch made for a Hiking and Camping Forum. They have a nice outdoors look to them and coupled with a nice leather sheath they feel great riding on my belt.

The parachute nylon hammock - Discovered hammocking and hammock camping this year and my first hammock was an ENO DN. I love Warbonnet but I still love parachute nylon. I had only ever tried rope hammocks and cheap bridge hammocks in the past so when I first got the ENO it was awesome. I love the way it wraps around me when laying is different positions and they are so portable that it makes you want to go outside and use them. It has really reignited my love for the outdoors.
Don't let life get in the way of living.

    Sweet picture.
Is there a kayak in there somewhere??????
Getting swallowed by a big wave is the most fun ever, especially if you stay in your boat.
All these gear lists make me want to shop for more stuff.

    1. WB Traveler 1.1 sl: As comfortable as the BB, less $s, more compact & lighter even with the DIY tulle bug sock.

    2. HG SummerBurrow: Warmth for this cold sleeper with proper uq below the spec rating. High quality design & construction resulting in a compact, light, functional and probably durable product. Only oops was at 5'4" I needed to order a shorter custom version.

    3. PacerPoles: Gone from not liking trekking poles to "don't leave home without them". They are almost 2x the weight of my diy cf poles, but the swing weight feels similar. It's the grips that make these "magic" poles. Cadence is more consistent and higher resulting in more ground covered but with no real feeling of additional energy expended. Plus my hands don't get that sleepy feeling that sometimes occurs when hiking with a pack.

Oh boy....researching eveyone's favorites is going to keep me busy for at least a week....maybe longer! This is a VERY useful thread!

Mine are in no particular order..

    1. Western Mountaineering 30 degree Megalite sleeping bag. One of their zero degree bags probably will make my 2011 list. Their stuff wreaks of quality.

    2. Aarn Naural Balance backpack. Quite simply the most comfortable pack I've ever worn.

    3. My new WBBB 1.0 Double. Nothing I can add to what's already been said about that one.. It'll be my go to summer....maybe three season hammock.

My top three gear choices for the past year would be :

    1. Three Season Crowsnest Underquilt from www.hammockgear.com It is so comfortable and light weight and easy to setup and use.

    2. Whoopieslings from www.whoopieslings.com Make my setup faster and easier. I would encourage anyone to try these.

    3. Hammock bag from http://arrowheadequipment.webs.com/ It makes it easy to stow my hammock and it stays on the hammock at all times.

I have one other piece of gear to "test" soon. I purchased a Kodak Playsport video/still photo camera recently. I will use it on my trips. It is small, light and waterproof.
    Take care,
