    Looking for Knot Advice

I'm looking for the best knot to use for this scenario. In my climbing-rope days I would have used a Butterfly, but it seems like a lot of rope and perhaps not the best for this application. Here's what I want:

Loop on on end, 9 or 10 feet of line, then 3 loops on the other end about 10" apart and ending with a loop. So, a total of 4 loops. Ideally all would be small (inch across or so) and permanent. Probably done in Amsteel. Sort of like this when finished -

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

In thin line like amsteel the alpine butterfly might not use up all that much rope. I'm a big fan of this knot so my answer might be a little biased.

PS - Ignore my comments above. In a moment of weakness I contradicted my own oft stated advice, no knots in amsteel.

    No knot!
Depending on what you want to hang/use this for try this:

Create your 4 loops using either Amsteel or zing-it continuous loops (aka chain-links), but bury them inside the ridge line.

    Permanent
    easy
    kinda cool

I like to HAM it up on the CW.
    I use Linux.
    I play go.
Of course I sleep in a hammock!

My first thought was the alpine butterfly as well for the three loops. Can't see each loop using more than an inch. I'm no expert though.

the alpine would be better than the figure because if you don't use a loop in the middle the pressure will be put il line I mean that it's not gonna force the knot to open like a figure height would do... it's also the reason why it's used in mountaineering to tie people in the middle of the rope...

and I just tried it the alpine butterfly take something like half the amount of rope a figure height would take at least on my climbing rope...

I just did the test again being more carful, I ended up that keeping the same loop size the alpine butterfly use 43.5% less rope than the figure height (in line or on a bight will use the same amount, it's the same knot) so save the figure height for the ends...

I had butterfly knots slip with AmSteel when I tried them on hammock suspension line.

I would take a look at cascading Zeppelin loops/bends along a cord. I am really impressed with the Zeppelin and try to use it with the AmSteel as much as possible because I think it solves most of the 'knot issues' with AmSteel.

I might be wrong or just close minded but I think that the zeppelin loop is kinda hard to remember... and if you had a slip with the butterfly knot, it might be because you didn't check it before or because you didn't made it correctly, I don't mean that you did but amsteel isn't suppose to be a problem as long as you keep pressure (with a reasonable size loop too small it'll slip) on it or if you have something clipped in the loop it wont slip (it can happen but you gotta be in a very bad luck) according to the ashley book of knot it's strong, secure and easy to do...

if you wanna use the zeppelin the only problem you might have is to remember how to do it otherwise it seems strong, secure and youngblood's tailbone tested it so... btw it's the first knot that I don't find in the ashley book of knot...
