not sure i follow you. won't the AHE cinch clips just slide off once you remove the tension from the whoopie? also, the dutch clip is a loose piece - is that what you could walk off and leave? i'm not completing with the dutch clip, I guess i am with AHE with a slightly different design. i do not see how you could ever leave my clip behind once you put it on the tree strap, unless, when you break down your set up you for some reason pull the tree strap all the way through the clip so only the tip is poking out of the last slot.

No, the whoopie is made on the AHE buckles...you would have to take the whoopie apart, or cut it to remove the buckles. The strap has a line of stitching up against the dc, so it can't fall off. It doesn't show in the pic, or possibly, hadn't been done yet (this is an old pic).

Some people have walked off, and left the tree straps behind, clips and all.

i use a biner on the eyelet side of the tree strap and my clip on the non eyelet side. those 3 peices never get broken down, always 1 and only make sliding adjustments

However if one wanted to reduce extra weight it would not take much to rig the webbing sans the biner/clip (pretty sure I saw webbing and toggle set up on a Shug video). For me I would use the webbing as my entire set up (no Whoppie) with a biner too (just as you described) but I am hauling my gear on a moto, not on my back.

Can't the whoopie be removed from the clip, in the same way it can be remover from the marlinspike hitch? I may be missing something...if so, my apologies.

you don't need a biner, you can just feed the loose end of the tree strap through a sewn eyelet.

well, if you walk off leaving gear i guess it's like leaving unburned fire wood. you could make this arguement about not packing a quilt or water bottle, you just need to check your campsite a little better before leaving.

I'm thinking a Whoopie would not be needed at all but then I am also thinking from the perspective of a webbing equipped WBBB/Traveler. The Elephant Trunk would be your adjustment point and attached to a long webbing piece. The ET would be a water barrier and simple all around set up. BTW I will be ordering a couple of sets BG.
