    that's a go!

I'm on board, for what it's worth, trepidations of freezing in tow. I'd love to carpool and look forward to staying warm. Blowing a blizzard through Mountainair and the "east mountains" as we call them down here in New Mexico tonight. Got to get out there and test my gear.

A part of me really doesn't believe I'm doing this. The other part(s) are pretty excited!

Ok - so I guess the official hang will be Fri-Sun. Anybody want to stay Sunday night?

Since it's car camping, it won't be a problem to bring enough food. I'll have to see what my guests want to do before I decide.

    Plenty of hiking around there.

I think the weather will play a big part in my decision to stay Sunday nite. I will plan to have extra food and water in the car just in case.

Haha, I'm retired, if I'm having a good time I might stay all week. Doh! IF the roads dry I'll bring my Icefishing stuff up via Mtn Bike and Bob Trailer.
Wish I had a pulk sled like shug just made if the raod is snow covered.

    confirm

I am leaving Wheat Ridge about noon on Friday.

I will bring tamales for the potluck Saturday night.

Some of us (me) need to carry a quad map to feel secure. Do you know the quad name(s)?

Would chips, salsa and cheeze be OK?
I'm not a very good cook I would not want to make everyone sick.

    On the subject of food.
I did a hang last nite it got down to -2F.
Man was I hunger this morning. I must have burned a ton of calories trying to stay warm last night.
Note to self. Double quantity on food shopping list for winter hang.

There was so much good food available last year. Food brought some of the best tamales ever. I could have eaten those all weekend. Something easy and fast for breakfast is always good, so that people don't have to wait for things to cook. Dang it, I wish I wasn't going to miss this. Maybe I can come up early Sunday for breakfast and to chill out.

I had those tamales for dinner, a snack later, and I think again for breakfast.

I'll bring a dessert...cookies to heat by the fire or something.

OB - chips and salsa will be great.

    real food

Winter camping is a time for real food. Spicy food with a high fat content will help keep you warm.

Have a plan for how you are going to cook if your food freezes into a brick.

You may need to put your Snickers into a inside pocket before eating.

Hot chocolate, fancy coffee and hot cider boost your morale. An insulated mug makes life better.

I am going to have fried Spam and Cheddar cheese on a whole wheat bagel for both breakfasts.

Friday night I am going to have Idahoan mashed potatoes with chicken.

I am going to miss Sevens peach cobbler in the dutch oven.
