    Question Waterproof cellphone case question....

    Guys,

I have looked all over for a waterproof cellphone case for my Iphone to use while camping and kayaking. I have found several, but none REALLY fit the bill that I am looking for.

I would like a hard case, no bags or anything. I would like to be able to use the phone while it is in the case. I would also like to be able to at least be able to plug in the headphones and listen to music, and if I could somehow charge it while it is in the case, that would be great. But I don't think that will ever happen. And last, I would like to use the case everyday. I would like to find one case and be done.

Do any of you guys know a place where I could get something like that?

    I use these:

Aloksak plastic bags. I like the one where the phone goes in sideways (the zipper runs vertically). The other one is a tighter fit but can be pretty annoying.

You can use the phone through the plastic. Not sure how good it sounds (I was using the touch screen).

That's a tall order, I don't think something like that exists.

Then your starting to go into the realm of the old waterproof cases that we used to use on 35mm camera's. They cost hundreds of dollars because they had to be engineered with these outside knobs that focused the camera inside the case, changed the shutter speed and f-stop, and clicked the shutter button to take the picture. And while doing all this, would not leak. Oh and each one had to be engineered to fit a specific camera. Cannon would not fit into a Nikon etc.

I don't believe anything in that order exists for a cell phone.

I wonder how it handles the heat buildup? That's a problem I had with putting my Garmin GPS ETrex Legend into a case. The heat buildup would cause it to shut down unless I dunked it repeatedly into the water every chance I got. Found out that the hard cases would not allow for the transfer of heat as quickly as the soft bags would in that situation (me dunking them in the water to cool them off)

Pelican has one for the iPhone. I got mine before they had the headphone jack so the case is just a waterproof box that I keep my iPhone and ID in.

http://www.inflatablekayakworld.com/...ase-ipod-nano/ this one has controls. i use a Peligan and a clear case for camera. i always put a Silica Gel pack in with it to keep down humidity. humidity will rust the insides quick.

i was just told an ipod and a iphone are different, sorry. put its still a cool case.
