I need to take the thing out somewhere and weigh it. (no scales here yet).

I wanted to cut it where the seams are. Didn't want to have to hem or anything, just make it as easy as possible. I've been thinking of this mod for quite a while, every time I saw one of these tarps... It's very easy to cut below the seam with no adverse effect on the tarp.

I had plans to cat cut it, but I'd like to see what my coverage will be before I cut it again.

Grizz, I haven't had time to hang under it yet, but my thought was to bring just one triangle and move it to where it will do the most good (either as an end-cap or as a side/diagonal wind blocker, wherever works best, just tie it in.) So I'll only be reducing the total weight by one triangle, unless it's a pain to use, and in that case I'll leave it at home.

I've heard rumors that Doctari was going to modify the 12x12, assuming he could find one...

Thanks for the idea about using the cut off triangles as end caps. I'm thinking of sewing on freemagic (velcro) to the hammock and triangles. Glad I didn't throw them away. http://www.hammockforums.net/gallery...r&imageuser=45

There was another thread on this, a while back. I've been intending to get another Guide Gear, and leave the corners on it.

    That a nice mod NCPatrick.

Looks like it is pitched pretty tight even without the cat cuts. I really like the use of the corner pieces. Maybe they can be sewn on on one side with Velcro on the other so that the ends of the tarp can be closed up.

This made me think of another possibility.
Has anyone tied the SG tarps like a hex (as patrick did) but with the ends still in place? Then taken the triangles and pointed them back under the hammock?
It would look kind of like a tiefighter if you looked at it from an end
    WAs that clear?
