Suspension will be shock cord and drawstring. I've not noticed a need for tri-things the way I hang.

Great looking UQ. I've been considering making one myself. What resources did you find to be the most helpful (HF posts, other websites, etc)? Did you follow a plan or make your own? How did you measure the down for each chamber, a scale? If you were doing another, what would you do different?

Basically, I looked at all the UQs I could find pictures of and read all the posts I could find. Almost none anywhere but here. Then I made my own plan.

I calculated the total down I intended to use, divided by how many chambers I intended to have, and ordered preweighed from Stormcrow. Having done that, even for a discount, I wouldn't do it any other way. I can't imagine it would be worth the savings for me to have weighed it out myself. Besides, his price is already very affordable for down.

    What would I do different?
    1. Not put off starting so long thinking it would be hard.
    2. Pay the small amount extra for lighter nylon.
    3. Use smaller hems on the edges.

good looking project. I made mine with 2" baffles and 8 oz down on a 3/4 length and it did fine to around 25 on the Chattooga. I had on plenty of clothes as well but never really got cold on my back other than having to shift a little down once while in the hammock. You should be fine with the larger baffles and more down.

I wish, I wish, I wish, I wish, I would have ordered my down pre measured.

    jbo c,

This looks awesome. Do you happen have a pic or reference for the darts and differential. Having a hard time conceptually and a pic or drawing would help. I know what a dart is, my wife knows how to sew, but I don't see the darts - unless you integrated them into the baffle seam?

I'm out of town. Will try to clarify when I get home. Darts are centered between the baffles on the inside(hammock side) fabric only. I sewed the baffles onto the inside piece of fabric(6" apart)then sewed the darts, then sewed the baffles to the other piece of fabric.

OK. I'm back. Did my last post answer your questions or is there something else that will help? I don't have any drawings, but I can try to clarify better if you ask.
