Inertia - X - Frame: Ultralight Camping Pad

Has any one taken a look at these, they are an inflatible pad reduced down to its bare essentials in tube form, they reduce down to the size of a grapefruit or so, and take only about 4-6 breathes to inflate fully. Here's the link: http://www.klymit.com/index.php/prod...riaxframe.html

cost is $99 direct from Kylmit.

I wonder if they really do offer an advantage over a thermarest. I'm a little biased I'ved had my originall Thermarest for 24 years, lost it a couple of time found it, the original valve went south some 10 years after I bought it cascade designs not only sent me a free replacemt valve but a bunch of other stuff too. Dont know if there still that good, but the pad is.

Looks super little. I wonder how well it would work for a hammock. Personally I only use a pad for two reasons(well three if you want to count that Im cheap) it keeps me warm and helps with shoulder squeeze atleast in a bridge hammock.

looks like it would be a good idea, but for anyone over 180lbs it looks to flimsy for me.

    Solution seeking problem?

Of course, all of us are going to say, instead of trying to optimize sleeping on the ground, why not just get off the ground?

The sleeping bag can loft into the "loft pockets" but you'll still be cold at the points of contact (head, shoulders, hips, etc.) because the pad obviously does not have insulation in it. Neat idea - I wonder if the implementation will work well enough to survive.

+1 totally agree - this isn't going to work well in a hammock by my guess... Cool concept for padding but you don't need padding in a hammock (you need insulation) which this provides very little of.

    Very neat though!
