Maybe you could just let some of the air out to make it stable and sleep on it IN the water, hum, a hammock waterbed!

Maybe something like the Hennessy Adventure Racer at 15oz. (including tarp) would be down your alley. Assuming you meet those size requirements.

I'll have to test it out with a spare.

I'm sure he could tie off, if he just knew where to get some decent straps!

    That is one funny man...

I think sleeping on the water might be comfortable when napping during a hot summer day, but at night the water will sap all the heat and potentially cause hypothermia even in the summer. Most of the rivers in the Northwest are not all that warm.

As a matter of fact, I have catnapped in my kayak on the water in the summer. it was great untill I was awakened quite suddenly by some small rapids. About as comfortable as a hammock. (I'd say "maybe more", but I figure that would border on blasphemy in this forum)

Just a though but if your using your kayak all day in the water. Wouldn't the skin be wet and therefore your bed would be kind of wet. Do you really want to dry your bed out everynight before you go to sleep. Not to discourage you because I think it's a really innovative idea. Are your kayak skins waterproof so that you might turn them inside out for this purpose?

Sometimes I overthink things, and othertimes I can't see the forest throught the trees.
Now that I am scrapping this idea, any suggestions as to where I might find an inexpesive hammock that can hold a larger man of 225# plus bedding?

TrekLight, ENO, Ticket To The Moon. They are all rated well within your weight range and can usually be found for $50 or less. But, at 225 you should be able to use most any 1.9 or better hammock!
