    Hennessy for 6' 2" 190 pounds

    Noob here...

Been playing around with a cheapo top loader from Wally world and have slept a couple of nights on the back deck and in the basement to see if I was hammock fodder. Seems that I am. I have been wanting to sleep in a hammock since Gilligan's Island was in Prime Time.

I am eyeballing the HH Christmas sale and am a cheap, stingy $%^&* sooooo...

At 6' 2" and 190#, would I be miserable in the Expedition Asym [cheaper] or just spring the extra $$ for the Explorer deluxe...

Or just save my pennies for a WBBB

Lots of good info. here, and TIA for any and all replies.

I am 5' 10" and have the HHED and the Expedition and the HHED is very roomy. I think you would be satisfied with it and right now you can get a free Scout and Snake skins with purchase! Great Holiday deal!

    +1 on what bugman said.

That deal is almost too good for me to pass up, and I already have a HHED!

I am betting that you will come to appreciate the length of the HHED. Roomy in the shoulders as well. Still my favorite summer hammock.

The HHED would be the right size for you. The Expedition would frustrate you to no end. The question is on how you plan to use the hammock.
Here are some things to consider:

    1. Do you want/need an integrated bugnet? If a net is not necessary, you can look at the WB Traveler as well.
    2. Top loader or bottom entry? The bottom entry can get frustrating if you are using a sleeping bag and/or pad.
    3. What type of bottom insulation are you going to use? The DL WBBB makes a pad much more manageable.

The most common mods/upgrades done to the HH cost some money so you might as well figure those into the financial equation when deciding between the HH and saving for a WBBB. Some upgrades to consider with approximate cost:
    1. Suspension - (tying knots gets old) - $20.00
    2. Zipper mod - (If you get the bottom entry and don't like it) - $50
    3. Tarp (You'll have to get one if you go with a WBBB or if you don't like the stock HH tarp) - $80

I've done all the upgrades listed above to my HHED and love it...but I still bought a WBBB ...just sayin'.

    Good luck and happy hanging!

At 6', I almost never use my Expeditions. They are too small for me. The few bucks for the Explorer will be well worth the expense IMO.

i would go with the explorer ultralight and not the deluxe. i had the ultralight for a while and never had a problem with it at 240lbs. i bought a second directly from HH and when speaking to them they said to get he deluxe due to my weight but looking back at it i think they steered me this way b/c Tom is super saftey man.
in my opinion, i would get the explorer ultralight, convert the suspension over to whoopies, longer tree huggers and get the mod2 from 2QZQ but that's just me. it's a sweet set up now.

I am 6ft 2in, and broad shouldered. I started in the Expedition. It felt cramped. I was forever wriggling about to find the sweet spot. I upgraded to the Explorer Deluxe with side zip. "Oh yeah, baby, that's the ticket!" was my first response, as I had a lot more leg room, and my shoulders could lay flat without feeling "pinched".
