One stove solution: Get a SOTO Microregulator stove. It is a canister-top; really small to hike with, and is made FOR the cold weather! Got Backpacker magazine's Editor's Choice this year for stoves! I have it, it works, and I love it.

Nice trip report, and good pics!

Nice picture, though they all were good this is my favorite.

Thank you for the report. The more I read winter trip reports the more I want to winter camp (need the money to buy the equipment). Next year.

Wow, what a great trip report. Really cool seeing the MRT in the winter. Nice! How do you think alcohol would perform in that type of weather?

Depends on the type of stove you have. My understanding is that the wick stoves are not impacted by the cold. Not sure about other styles.

I don't know how I missed your report Paul.

Looks like you had fun and remembered more about cold weather camping.
    Great report and photos

Thanks everyone, it was a blast and I can't wait to do it again...I'll be trying a few tricks with the stove including insulated pad to set it up on so it's not right in the snow...

I'm itching to head to the woods again SOON!!!! Now if I can just get my PULK done and buy some snow shoes I'll be ready for some deep winter fun...
