    Howdy, from a newbie..

    Howdy all, name is Rod,

I am a new hanger wannabe starter, I've bought a Hennesy Deluxe A'sym, and
trying to get started, learning the knots and how to do a set up on it. I plan to send it off and get a few mod's on it, when I can. Also looking for a few good area's in the far north, east part of Dallas, Tx, around lake Lavon or Sam Rayburn lake to start if anybody knows of any.

    Thanks,

    Rod

Welcome to ya from Southern Maryland. I'm sure when some of the Texas contingent of HF see your post they will chime in on good hang locations.

Welcome to the forums. I have seen a few TX hangers around here lately that should be able to help you.

Don't know Texas, but Welcome Aboard. Another option is to get out of using the heavy ropes that Hennessey uses and going to straps and whoppie slings.

Welcome to Hammock Forums! There are plenty of hangers in Texas and I can vouch for them all being the finest hangers. Last month, I attended the Texas group hang at Franklin Lake State Park with them, all the way from sunny South Florida!

Here is a link to the trip report for that hang. You will see a lot of Texans!

Welcome to Hammock Forums! There are plenty of hangers in
your neck of the woods. I'm not from Texas so I can't help with camp sites. I do love the Whoopie slings I bought for my Hennessy from Whoopieslings.com here on the forum.
    Take care,

I suggest Coopers Lake State Park, about 1 1/2hr northeast of you. Plenty of trees, fishing and such. Small fees apply for camping. With the AT in my neck of the woods, I'm not used to camping fees, but I don't know of any such situations out your way (although i'm sure there is). Other than that, just find two trees and enjoy those stars over texas!
