Baffles TQ or UQ..what to do at the edge

so i finally got off the pot and made an UQ and i'm making a TQ now. how does everyone handle the baffles at the edge? are people darting the baffle to reduct the bunch at the seam where the outter and inner are sewn? are you just bunching it and sewing? are you laying it flat? do you offset the outter and inner? i have just been folding it like an accordion, not sure if this is what everyone is doing or not?

Tim - do you keep the baffle the same height all the way to the edge or do you taper it at all?

the baffle doesn't taper, it just gets scrunched when the edge is sewn down

Same here! I end my baffles about 1" short of reaching the edge. That makes for less material to scrunch.

so could that potentially allow the down to shift between baffles if it goes all the way to the end and then kind of go around the corner?

i was leaving my about an inch long so when i sew the inner to outer i've got a little stickin out to ensure i closed the baffle.

i try to stop the baffle right at the edge where it will get sewn down or at least have a tiny gap to keep down from shifting. If you finish the edges like the Jacks with a rolled hem you can make your baffles full length and they will get sealed in the roll. This is the best way to insure no down can migrate. However, i stop right at the edge and have no problem with baffle to baffle migration. (those geese and their migrating, they never stop, 23 million years or something i guess)

Nothing measureable migrates between baffles. Maybe one cluster makes it through occasionally, but another one ges theother way to offset the first.
