    My First Snow Hang

This was a first for me. Hanging in a hammock in the snow. My Noah Tarp held up fine with all that weight on it. And I really didn't know how much snow was there until morning. All I could hear all night was the wind...or was that Mack snoring!?! One will never know!
I have to thank the guys for watching out for me because they made sure I had enough to keep me warm.
Mac brought a Molly Mac Gear Hammock Sock for me to use and Wisenbur offered up a Gossamer Gear pad for some extra insulation between my hammock and the Hammock sock. I already had my Thermorest in a DIY pad extender. It worked out extremily well and I was very comfortable! I worried about my feet mainly because that is always what seems to get cold when I'm in a hammock. I wore some down booties with wool socks and put some chemical hand warmers in them. Man that worked wonders! I actually got a little too warm for a little while. Near morning they did get cold but when I looked I saw that my pad has slipped a little to one side. I corrected it and I could feel the heat return almost immediately.
I'm sold on Mac's Hammock Sock and will purchase one soon. I loved how it kept my body heat in and kept the wind off of me too. It would move a little when a big gust would come and the sound was like a gentle rustle. And the wind was really whipping up a tempest up there! At times I was swinging me slightly but that seemed to rock me right off to sleep.
It was still snowing when we were breaking camp and it was a great asset to have that barn there to take our gear into to stash away in our packs and ready ourselves for the hike out.
It was a great first snow hang & with good company I may add. We fixed our food in the barn and sat around and socialized until it got late enough to turn in. every half hour or so we each would put on another layer. By the time I went to get in my hammock I had everything I had on! Wisenber had these neat down pants and with his down jacket he looked like the Michelin Man! Mac was the coolest of all though with his Anorak!

    Thank you very much!

If I had a hat-cam, we would have enjoyed replaying the minutes immediately following the nativity scene, when I realized I was in the ditch and uttered the two words that are the last thing a pilot says before crashing his plane.

I had another laugh when I dropped the camera... couldn't cut that!

IDCAKES ... love your pictures ... Mac looks like he's promo'ing a National Geographic documentary, Quasimotober looks like he needs to find a bell to ring and you look like a little red cherry on a vanilla milk shake!

Mac, your fluffy coat picture reminds me of James Bond (Sean Connery version)... cracked me up. I bet you had your Walther under that coat ready for service

No one has ever said I looked like Sean Connery (a good Scot from Glasgow)! It's always puzzled me how Ian Fleming could have chosen a .380 as the weapon of choice for such a manly man as Bond.

It's tough to draw out of that Anorak... and it's tough to point shoot with mittens!
