    weathershield, what material is best?

well, I would like to have a weathershield, after hearing all the good it can do, but what should I make it out of:

1.1oz RS- this is light weight and can provide moderate wind protection. call it the normal.

1.9oz RS- like the 1.1, but heavy duty. better at blocking wind, but it is a little heavier.

1.35oz sil- this will block much more wind and all rain, but will not breathe.

WP/B- whatever waterproof and breathable material you can use. WP/B are not very breathable except close to the skin, so similar to sil.

I am leaning towards a 1.1/9 top and a 1.1/9/sil bottom (as long as there is room between that and the quilt.

i voted 1.1 but i've wondered if the 1.9 might be needed to provide enough air resistance when it's really windy.
i've already started a travel pod out of 1.1 DWR, but i will add more spray on DWR spray if needed to help it's wind resistance.
    the ends will be silnylon.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

I'm going to try making one out of 1.9 breathable DWR.
I figure, if it doesn't work out, well, it has some good recycling capabilities being so large!

I have the old JRB WeatherShield set- and I absolutely LOVE em!
I have two hammockers in the making (daughters) to gear up for now, and I'm looking for something to do the job for their set ups. I'll be interested to see what everyone else suggests.

Have you thought about using Neat Sheet material?

well, I hope the new JRB ws set is a bit more, well, blending. but as seen by their other products, it might well not. its ok tho.

but I want my top shield to be like HC4U, where it zips over the edge (if I can get a zipper, and the material). So, I am still going to make my own, so I am leaning to 1.1, right?

1.1oz would work just fine. My top covers for my HH clone and my HH are made from untreated 1.9oz.
