    Hello from Amarillo

Seems to be a great forum you have here.

I'm 53, a retired Fireman as of last January. Spent most of this last summer traveling the country on motorcycle visiting extended family, camping most of the time. Tent and sleeping bag with Thermarest air core pad. I don't think I got one good nights sleep or didn't wake with an aching back.

Found you thru the Adventure Rider forum I frequent. Lots of people there use hammocks and after reading several threads on them, I've decided to give one a try for this next year.

Ordered a WBBB 1.1DL and Superfly last week. While I'm waiting for that to come in, I'm trying to weed thru all the different ways of rigging ridge lines, guy lines, etc. , what rope to use for what purpose, UQs, TQs, knots, biners, yada yada.

Look forward to rigging my first hang and fine tuning it as I get experience, and also participating in this fine forum.

Welcome to HF. Hammokk camping is the only way to. After sleeping on the ground you will not believe how comfortable a hommock is. You will sleep like a baby.

That's funny...I was about the ask the exact same thing! Do you just drive a couple of t-posts in the ground and use those?

Thanks all for the welcome. True, trees around here can be scarce. I have to travel a ways to get anywhere worth camping at.

Would have been nice to have a hammock to try while I was riding and camping the Blue Ridge Parkway last September.

Well it looks like you are off to a good start. Don't hesitate with any questions. The most trouble I had was with rigging the tarp/suspensions.
