Without a bug net, the prussik has real possibilities! I can't think of any negatives.
That is how I do it when the ridgeline is exposed. You can get the UQ to lay asym by using 2 loops on each end spaced a couple inches apart.

I also use a non load bearing external ridgeline on my WBBB when using a full length quilt. Just works better for me with the infinite adjustment points and upward pull.

Those triangle things are great when used with internal ridgeline hammocks with bugnets. Not that I am biased are anything

Isn't one of the aims of the triangle thingies, to avoid abrasion of the bugnet from a line thrown over top? I'm going to try these with the addition of some slippery nylon over the amsteel line that forms the "base" of the triangle.

I was thinking about using 3/4" wide grosgrain over the ridgeline and 1.75mm Zing-It on the legs.

I'm with bcaron on this one. Aren't the triangle thingies used to take the stress off one particular spot in the bug net? Although amsteel is slippery I would think it would eventually ware a hole in the bug net.

I am visualizing a hybrid thingie.......

A "V" made from Zing-It, with a leg over the net made from grosgrain.

Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

Dang, everytime I think I thought of an original idea, I log on and bam, it just got made, haha. I just found out about the triangle thingies a few weeks ago and thought they were genious. But with the large quanity of amsteel on its way I spent to much time thinking of how to make these with amsteel or a prussik.

Thank you guys for taking the guessing out of this. Great job!

I wrote a "how to" after seeing your question yesterday:
