    Hanging Inside a Jeep

While i was out and about this weekend i had an overwhelming desire to take a nap. The weather was not exactly inviting at that moment. Thinking back to when i had a mini van i could sleep in the back. Well i after a few minutes of staring at the roll bar it came to me. Was there enough space to hang a hammock? After some fussing i discovered the answer, and i had my much desired nap.

I have tried it in my Hennessy, but i found that the extra fabric of the Warbonnet make for flatter lay. Neither are hung for optimal comfort. Now i'm wondering if its possible to make a hammock specifically to hang from a Jeep.

    Any thoughts....how about some brainstorming?

This is hilarious sir. I would think that you would be kind of cramped in there. But, it looks like you made it work out great.

I had (might still have around here somewhere) a rope hammock with a spreader that I cut down to fit in my Just Empty Every Pocket. I used it when I made trips up the Rubicon or needed naps in the parking lot at work. It was attached at the roll-bar/windshield connection and the head end, with the spreader, was just above the rear seat belt mount. I never liked sleeping in it with the top on though, because my feet got squished.
I wish I had pics and even more so wish I still had my TJ.

I have hung my GT Nano inside of my jeep for naps on my lunch break. Plenty comfy for me, though I was thinking about a jeep specific hammock so I would not have to wrap the fabric around the roll bars.

What is the distance between your anchor points?

I hung in a relitively short space in deer camp. Taking the suspension out of the oal by passing it around the anchor, doubling back over the hammock, and clipping the suspension lines to each other worked well. For this method, whoopies are the best choice.

Have any of you looked at the Bushmans Chair that Paul sales at AHE. It is a small hammock "chair" that uses a webbing suspension. It would be cramped for me to sleep in but could be done.

I have one and LOVE it. I am only 5'6" so it works about right for me. I wish I had ordered another one last week with my latest order.

Since you probably have some parallel tie-out points somewhere in that setup, why not make a bridge hammock? You won't need spreaders, as you can set 4 tie-out points to keep the bridge geometry.

Put some hooks on the roll bars, and you'd have an easy setup.

That's what I did for my kids (the less-than flat lay is intentional: these were designed to sit and read in...)
