One reason I like hammock socks...
“Republics are created by the virtue, public spirit, and intelligence of the citizens. They fall when the wise are banished from the public councils because they dare to be honest, and the profligate are rewarded because they flatter the people, in order to betray them.” ~Judge Joseph Story

I too believe using a tarp would have kept the thick dew off of you. You already know I hang in southwest Florida, and always lots of humidity in the air. Just a fact of Florida.
Happy Hanging & looking forward to meeting you next month at the Florida Hang event.

Just check the weather forecast and look for the predicted low and what the dew point is. If the low is below the dew point you will probably get dew'ed on if you are under a clear sky. But if you are on your back deck or in your back yard it isn't that big of a deal to dry things out the next day. I've been dew'ed on a few times in my back yard and just laughed about it... out in woods could be more serious so I'm more cautious there.

It's pretty neat to be able to see the sky, don't just write it off.
