    Best/First/Most Recent Gift Received/Given

(Backpacking or hammocking related gifts of course)

The holiday season has got me thinking.

-What was the first gift you gave or received?

-What was the most recent gift you gave or received?

-What was the best gift you gave or received?

Answer any or all as you like.

First gift received:My first pack I ever got. Gift when I was maybe, 16 or so, can't remember for sure. Gawd awful heavy brute, the LL Bean White Mountain Pack. 6 Pounds, 6 Ounces and super uncomfortable, although the size that's too big for me probably is largely to blame. Still probably the best gift so far, since it allowed my to go hiking.

The most recent: My mom gave me the silnylon to make a tarp for the hammock. It is a Christmas present for this year, but she gave it to me early so I could start working.

Best gift I gave this year was a BB to my wife. The first time she got in it she said this is soft and was asleep in a couple of minutes. When she woke up she asked if we could take her new hammock on our next camp out.

First & best hammock gift - Gift for myself, my first hammock. A Trek Light double purchased on a whim last fall. Off the ground at last.
Best outdoor gift given - Gave my river buddy a new can opener for Christmas, to replace the awful one he's been carrying in his river kitchen. When you can't get the can of peaches open to make the dutch oven cobbler.....that's an outdoor emergency !!!!!

The first and best were the same gift. When I first started backpacking again my girls got me a SP 700. The best given would probably be the Aether I got my Son last year. I go thru so much gear nobody even bothers to try to get me anything outdoor related!
