    New in Nashville

Hello everyone. I just received my HH ULBPA yesterday, so I'm very new to this. It's my first hammock, and the second free hammock and free snakeskins is what really swayed me. I already converted it to a whoopie sling suspension with dutch clips form JRB, and I ordered a Driducks poncho at the same time that I've modified to use as a weathershield. I needed rain protection anyways, and at $9 I thought I'd try it out. I upgraded my tarp to the Hennessy Hex, which I knew would be larger, but WOW. That thing is pretty huge. For now I'll be using my 20* bag and pad, but plan on upgrading to quilts sometime after the first of the year. I've been ground bound for about 20 years, so I'm pretty excited to start my hanging experience.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm actually very interested in getting Leigh to make me a quilt once I get the funds for it. I ran across the thread on them last night and noticed you guys were locals. It will likely be a month or two before I'm ready for that though.

Welcome to the best forum on the web. Watch for pizza nights and occasional dinners in Nashville - a couple of times per year folks get together and then there is a group hang at Meriwether Lewis campground on the Trace a couple of times per year sponsored by Neo.

    Thumbs up

Welcome to HF, Dave. I'm in Nashville too. And yes, we do have semi-regular dinners, hangs, and gatherings here. In fact, I'm leading two hikes for the Nashville Backpacker Meetup.com group, one in January and one in February. Some will hang, some will tent, and some will use a shelter. If you are interested, they are at Montgomery Bell State Park and Long Hunter State Park. And in February every year I organize a hike/dinner/presentation, which began for friends at WhiteBlaze.net and now includes HF folk too.

Anyway, the water's fine, so jump right in! It'll be good to have you join us.

Welcome to HF Dave! As Rain Man and others have said, there are quite a few of us hangers here in the Nashville/Middle Tennessee area. Hope to see you at the WB/HF get together in February or one of the Nashville Backpackers meetups or on a pizza night....
