At work one day people were looking out the window and talking about how fast the snow was coming in, from over the mountains.

As I walked up, one said, "Did you see all the snow coming in?"

"Yeah, I think I'm going camping tonight."

    The conversation stopped.

I agree with Shug that at some level people envy crazy. If you think about it crazy people are often those that create, invent, lead, and motivate. "Normal" is not something to get excited about. It is only average. Who wants to be average.

I know for a fact that folks at work admire my "craziness." Conversation is never lacking because they want to know about my latest adventure. They live vicariously through my bohemian life.

Crazy is just what you don't understand. The word doesn't have much meaning to me outside of that. When I hear of any extreme weather my first reaction has always been to go play in it, all my life. I'm happy to be crazy if that's the definition. Just don't try to stop me!

And I'm happy to realize I'm in such good company.

Yep, I'm near Elm Hill Marina. People I work with and friends on Facebook, etc. envy my craziness as well. I tell them about not using matches or lighters to start fires, sleeping outside with no shelter, going out in freezing temps, etc. and they all have about a million questions of why and how.

    One of my favorite quotes:

Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The trouble-makers. The round heads in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status-quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify, or vilify them. But the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.-Jack Kerouac

Yeah I go there with PA+ and NOA. Sometimes I just go on my own also. Went about a month ago out to Bear Island and camped overnight alone with no shelter and minimal gear. People thought I was nuts....again.

I forgot to mention, I slept with my pad inside the sleeping bag. Next time I may try it with the pad in the hammock outside the bag. I also may try it with the pad between the poncho and bottom of the hammock. I just need to figure out what's going to work best. I did leave the pad partially deflated so it would conform to the hammock.
