looking for info on a good down bag for 70-40* for a "larger framed person"

    Hey everyone,

I am going to be looking for a good "mid temperature" sleeping bag. I do want a down bag and want something that I can compress down fairly small. I'm fairly broad shouldered so a bag with a little wider width would probably fit me better. I can't seem to find anything that fits the bill. I will likely be using it as a top quilt and occasionally in a tent at motorcycle rally's. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have you looked at REI's Traveldown? I'm 6' and 185, and wear a 44 jacket--I still have plenty of room in it. It also has a full length zipper so it makes a nice topquilt.

Big Agnes Fishhawk 30F rating, 2.5 lbs, 70" shoulder girth. I use mine from 30 to 60 with comfort.

It wreaks of quality and the temp rating is conservative. The anti-catch zipper alone is worth the price tag. You truly get what you pay for with this one.

Another suggestion for a proper down bag; One of the Montbell spiral down huggers. . They're DWR'd well, very light, very small, no snag zip, drawstring foot box, very comfy because they stretch -I can easy cross my legs in it and move about. Not cheap though.

Yep, got to go with Mont Bell here too. Mine fits me good and I'm a big guy.

first thing that came to mind for me as well.
also, you might look at the hoodless Mitylite http://www.westernmountaineering.com...s&ContentId=15 that may better serve as a quilt when needed.
WM quality cant be touched by any other american bag. feathered friends are a close second, and valandre of france are nice too.
