New guy plans to go to ground.

When I'm dead. Until then I plan to hang out in trees. Getting my gear in order, have only done some practice hangs so far, a few items waiting to arrive.
I blame this on Shug videos, and as I have gotten older I just don't sleep well on the ground. Ten minutes in a hammock, and I came home and sold most of my tents.

Haha Ya, I think a lot of us owe many expenses to Shug videos. Welcome to HF dude. You have some beautiful woods in Oregon.

Shug and Sgt Rock got me interested. I understand completely about sleeping on the ground. After a cold night on the ground I can hardly get out of the tent now. I wish I had thought about a hammock long ago. I still have my tents, but I'm considering selling all but a couple of them.

I kept my TT Contrail, and my Sierra Designs Lightning for snow camping, but I doubt I'll use them much. With my 3/4 quilt, and some extra pads, I will do my Crater Lk snowcamping trip. But I'll get in a few practice runs first.

Welcome to HF. Winter / cold weather camping in hammock is very doable. Getting a few practice hangs with your gear is avery wise move.

    Welcome.
Luckily I had a lot of gear that I have sold to pay for them, and I already own a few bags, pads, and a go-lite top quilt.
If I had to start from scratch it would have been ugly for my wallet.
I would have been fine with my HH Exped, but then the collecting starts.

Not that many trees up there in that pumice desert around the lake.

Welcome! I tell ya, that ol Shug's videos have done more for the hammocking community than wheels did for cars.

I still watch em from time to time just to laugh.
