There is no actual parking lot. I recommend you scope out a spot to go back and forth from vehicle gear & food storage. Comfortable distances, less than 100yds Max. Lots of room.
I plan to setup my awning, tables, chair, cooler centrally. Hang my hammock elsewhere out of site, in distance.

The area looks pretty large. I think there is room for cars to park near close to their campsite and be pulled off to the side of the dirt road but still have room for other cars to pass.

I was not planning to camp in the central area, but maybe gather there around mealtime and evenings before wandering back to my own spot for some quiet and stargazing.

We have some sails for the kayak that we might play with if there is a bit of wind, so I'm looking to set our camp near the boat launch area. Won't know for sure until I get there though.

I think with this many people there won't be any time that the camp is completely unoccupied. Just my $.02

No point in doing things half way is there? I think it's our lovely weather and sunny dispositions! If this goes well, can you imagine what next year would look like?

I want to restate what Sunny has brought to our attention.
    This is bear territory!!
At no time should we have any food kept in our hammocks or tents. Please be prepared to keep all food and drink in your vehicle. There are "bear trashcans" at Buck Lake that we must use for all of our trash. With the gumbo, shrimp, and dutch oven treats, the smells and aroma coming from Buck Lake may just pique the interest of a bear or two.

Not to sound like the "Hammock Nazi", but with the variety of ages this weekend, we want everyone to be safe first and foremost. I'll step down from my soapbox now.

In case you worry about Hogs and such getting into the camp food...
Sunny passed this to me. Looks like the hogs have bigger things to worry about.

Kidding of course, this photo from Louisiana Gator Country.

I am just the messenger. This is the information the US Forest Service Ranger in charge of the Buck Lake Area told me today and asked that I make sure everyone was aware. Thats what I did

I have been following this thread for about a week and have decided to pull the pin and commit to this event. It would be neat to go to a first time event, after all there is only one first and one last. Everything else is just is just in between.
I am going to leave Friday morning by motorcycle and have about 275 miles to go. I am looking forward to meeting new friends.

Glad you are making the trip TreeRat. I think we are going to blow the doors off of the weekend. Some great people sharing a great hobby. Be safe on the roads.
