    Favorite place?

I just saw a re-run on the program "Christmas in Yellowstone".
In that program they followed a man called Tom Murphy who had been coming to Yellowstone for the last 26 years.

He said something about Yellowstone being his church, his cathedral and that it was great to see how things could be if we left it alone.
    I recognize that feeling!

I´m from Sweden and my favorit place is a nationalpark called Muddus.
It´s a forest national park with a lot of untouched old forest and even tough I´ve only been there twice I deeply recognize Tom Murphy´s feeling.

Muddus is my church, my cathedral!

If you like to see pictures of my favorit place I have an album here on the forum, just get in on my profile and check them out!

A link to my album of Muddus:

I've seen your pics - it´s a very magic place just judging from your album! Probably even more IRL. Especially that waterfall - i´m with Moski on that one - i to want to hang right beside it.

When i find the funding i want to go there(but that applies to many beautiful places in Sweden)

Whenever you get there, please let me know and I´ll try to join you!

We talked a little about making a SKAHO there sometime, I think it would be a great place for such a thing. It´s a really easy hike, though the first 7 km is a little bit rough. After that it´s "a walk in the park".....

Thanks for sharing your special place with us. The waterfall is especially beautiful. The upper pool looks so inviting but I guess it's probably very cold.

If we´ll ever do a SKAHO in Muddus moski can check the temperature in the pool. He´s a climber so he can probably find a way to that pool.

I also saw the yellowstone Doc,,,very nice,,i kept thinking he needs a pulk but then again he's probably more adaptable to the terrain with himself and a pack.
    Muddus looks like a special place. Myself i find whenever i get out into any kind of landscape whether it be rolling hills ,prairie, mnts,,,away from people in a natural setting there is a sense of peace and freshness,,,well providing the whether isn't too harsh,(-;
This last yr i rediscovered the beauty of being on the water. (-: (-:

When I saw his tarp I didn´t believe he would sleep underneath it cause it seemed really small. The snow was drifting in from the sides and it can not be fun being out for several nights after the downbag´s got wet. Brr!

Otherwise he seemed to know what he as doing, I guess he wouldn´t have managed for 26 winters if he didn´t know his way.

A pulk is great together with skiis if the terrain is flat. If there are many hills and thick forest pulling a pulk on skiis can be really tough.

My favorite place, my "Happy place" is anytime I get to spend time in the woods.

I very likely have a favorite place in the woods, but there are so many it is hard to pick just one, or even just one Woods. I think that if I had to pick (Life or death) I would choose Virginia's Grayson Highlands & surrounding area. When I dream of moving from Ohio (every night FYI) it's always to that area. But then I love the Red River Gorge & just about every place I have hiked so far. Even the local Ohio City parks can be a pleasant time for me.
