My lovely wife got me a new ENO single nest and slapstraps for Christmas. I have a trip planned with Flair4040 for this coming weekend......woohoo.Heading to the Blue Ridge Parkway/Shining Rock Wilderness. Mucho snow up high.

One word of caution regarding the slap straps. The work fine but stretch a lot especially if they get wet. Many mambers have complained about waking up with thier butts on the ground. My personal experience is yes they do stretch a lot. I sold them before I could use them on an overnight. These days a lot of us use polypro or polyester webbing for suspension. If you use the slap straps, then be aware that you may have to readjust them a couple of times.

I'm running the same set up. slap straps work but they have left me on the ground more than once. I got a set of whoopies I plan on using with the single until funds permit the purchase of a wbbb...maybe in a couple years :-(

You are in a prime spot for hammock exploration, no doubt. I'm somewhat jealous - I'd like to be "out there" myself...

It will be good times for sure. I have hamburger in the dehydrator and lots of other goodies to eat. I will be wrapped in my incubator while mtndew enjoys the yeti. I will post a video this weekend when we get back. Should be lots of snowy fun.

Thanks for the heads up on the Slap Straps. I set my hammock up fairly tight and then let the straps stretch out. Worked well but I did make one adjustment in the night when nature called. We cut our trip short when the high winds and clouds moved in. It was still a great trip and I can't wait to get out again. See Flair4040's 40th birthday thread for details.

No question about it, Whoopies are dirt cheap and absolutely neccessary on an ENO hammock. My buddies ENO double is an incredibly comfy hammock, but ending up with your butt dragging on the ground is never cool. If price is an issue, pick up some Amsteel from Redden Marine, discount code: "Hammockforum" no quotes and make some.

I'm having a hard time thinking that whoopies are "absolutely neccessary" on any hammock setup. What makes the ENO different than other rigs that the whoopies are the only way to go?

Whoopies aren't the only suspension system out there. Although they may be lighter in weight than others. You could go to a webbing and cinch buckle/descender ring system. That's what I have on both my hammocks, and I find it a very easy system to use. I have a Trek Light double hammock which is made almost identical to an ENO. I just attached the descender rings to the existing hammock line with a larkshead and ordered some poly webbing straps from AHE. In the future I may switch over to cinch buckles with chain link from AHE, but for now the rings work great. In addition to the stretch issue with the Slap Straps, they don't give you any ability to fine tune/micro-adjust your suspension.
