    Sand Ridge State Park Daytrip

Sand Ridge is a 7500 acre forest with 44 miles of marked trails for hiking, backpacking, snowmobiling and horseback riding. Today I backpacked a couple of those miles in about 5 inches of snow. The weather was sunny and nice with just a hint of breeze and a cool 23 degress. I was interested in checking out a couple of backcountry campsites listed on the map for possible future use by our local backpacking club. The snow was 3 days old and some of the trails had boot tracks on them although I never say anyone the entire time I was there. I hiked with my full winter pack and found time in the afternoon to hang my hammock and enjoy some ramen for lunch. By 3:30 it was getting a little colder and it was time to tear down and head for the truck. A few pictures for your viewing pleasure.

I have a Winter's Dream v2 that I brought along but did not put up today, the cover you are seeing is the single layer topcover that Tinker made for this hammock. It ties on the ends and velcros around the pullout lines.

That topcover is cool. Do you have good airflow with it on? Can you see out with it on? I have to be able to see out or i feel like i am in a locked box

Looks like you had a great day, I wish I could have joined you. We'll have to get an overnighter arranged soon.

The air flow is good since it only attaches on the ends and pullouts. The remaining material is free to move and air does flow thru some what. As far as seeing out, no not really, just a little here and there where gaps form or the air movement blows the edges up when not inside of my Winters Dream with the doors closed. It does add a couple of degrees of warmth without condensation issues which really helps on those colder nights.

This coming weekend (New Years) I have Friday, Sat, Sunday available as of now. The weather again looks un-predictable but it is early yet. I know that it is deer hunting season again from Dec 30 to Jan 2 which may cause issues.

Nice pictures. It snowed about 6 inches here in NC too, which is very odd. Unfortunately, time didn't permit me to get out in it.
