Sand Ridge is a 7500 acre forest with 44 miles of marked trails for hiking, backpacking, snowmobiling and horseback riding. Today I backpacked a couple of those miles in about 5 inches of snow. The weather was sunny and nice with just a hint of breeze and a cool 23 degress. I was interested in checking out a couple of backcountry campsites listed on the map for possible future use by our local backpacking club. The snow was 3 days old and some of the trails had boot tracks on them although I never say anyone the entire time I was there. I hiked with my full winter pack and found time in the afternoon to hang my hammock and enjoy some ramen for lunch. By 3:30 it was getting a little colder and it was time to tear down and head for the truck. A few pictures for your viewing pleasure.
