Happy Holidays Everyone Form an Ohio Newbe!

    Hello Everyone,

I'm Brand New here. So please don't throw sticks or make fun of me!

It took me a while to get my nerve up first to sign up on Hammock Forum for an account and now to introduce myself. But here it goes.

Hello my name is Paul and I live in Northern Ohio. I am heavily considering purchasing a hammock sleep system. Currently doing research for picking the best hammock and fit for me. I always loved the outdoors and took to hiking/backpacking and camping from an early age. I'm now pushing 50'ish and simplifying my life to do the things I enjoy the most, being outdoors and spending more time hiking and out in the woods!

With a Tarzan yell - "Love This Site", great information sharing and good people with loads of experience. "Kudos" to the moderator’s team, keep up the good work!

Hope you all have a safe and Happy New Years!

P.S. I've been taking on-line youtube hammock graduate classes from professor Shugemery. Thanks Shug, Keep them videos comin!
I hike with SCISSORS cause it makes me feel dangerous ... LoL

    Welcome Paul!

Noodling around this forum will make it very obvious that:
    1. There is much good advice to be found about our little hobby, and
    2. It is easy to become overwhelmed by that advice when trying to make a decision.

Welcome Paul. Enjoy the outdoors with a new hammock soon! Ask a lot of questions and you'll get a ton of responses from this great forum (not me, I'm a noob too).

    Welcome to the hammock world.

Yes it is a Hobie but it also made camping much more comfortable for me. I hope you learn what you need to make an intelligent decision and enjoy yourself.

Welcome Paul from a fellow Central Ohio Buckeye. I agree Shug's videos have taught me a lot too. So many more resources (And a lot of nice people) than just a year and a half ago...

and the best advice I can give is keep an eye on the 'trip planning forum'- likely there will be a group gathering you can get to, and it is an excellent opportunity to see many set-ups and brands of gear all in one place. or peruse the Diy gear making arena, and get ideas for making your own, or getting started on the cheap (especially if you can beg/borrow a sewing machine- aka 'thread injector', or know someone who sews and might owe you a favor..)
have fun with the learning curve! it is all good.. KM (who has more then a few projects in progress -also known as UFO's or Un-Finished Objects..sigh)
