    I finally set up today

Weird, somehow I'm a senior member yet I still don't know a thing.

This whole hammock thing all started on a camping trip when I was a ground dweller and a friend decided to use his hammock for the night. Everyone in our group woke up sore (like we all have prior to our hammocks) except him. So, I picked up an ENO on the cheap from ebay. Tried it one night during a sailing trip (no pics but I do have witnesses) and I was hooked. I then searched for more information and found Just Jeff's site. His enthusiasm sunk in and now I'm hooked. From his site I found HF. Today I was able to get a quick hang in so for now, here's what I have:

Kelty 12 - set up like sr1355 in #10 of this post. Still dialing this in. Tarp ridgeline with prussics and mini 'biners.
11' whipped-end hammock of 1.9 ripstop. Just figured out my ridgeline is a hair over 83% to give me a nice flat lay.
Two 6' whoopies toggled with a marlin spike hitch on 10' poly webbing (please note that I had to improvise because I loaned my webbing to a friend and wound up using cored out 1/2 inch dyneema around the trees - no trees were harmed in the hanging of this hammock).
20-degree The North Face Aleutian sleeping bag.
Ray-Way Top Quilt with Alpine upgrade.
    Coleman CCF pad

Temp was 31 and I was warm. So warm that I almost drifted off. The tarp helped a lot with the wind and had to have easily given me at least 7+ degrees of warmth in my 'winter setup'.

Pro Vagabond said practice makes perfect and this was great practice. Can't wait to do it again to get more familiar.

The future will have me making my own UQ in preparation for the New Jersey hang at the end of January.

Any and all advice/criticism/suggestions welcome and appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Syb

    Hi Syb,
Love the Kelty rig nicely done.
Looks like your hammock kit is really coming together.
Is that your brother in pict 3?
Cause he only has a family resemblance to your avatar, haha

Looks like a nice home away from home that's close to home.
I think Wisenber and Cakes use Noah tarps and they just look good.
What is all the white cord on the tree to the left?
You said '. So warm that I almost drifted off'. Why almost? You have
ascended our hanging brother, go ahead a let go of the Earth and let
    it drift off!
p.s. your dentist has done an amazing job

The cord was extra amsteel. I loaned my equipment to a friend and I was without my normal setup. Another friend gave me some Dyneema he used for sailing and that stuff holds a tremendous amount of weight - more than I'll ever put on it. It was free so I made the impromptu rig.

Some squirrels chasing each other around a nearby tree prevented me from completely drifting off. Also, it was getting late in the day and I had plans. I think if I did drift off, I might have slept several peaceful hours.

Yes, I've got a great dentist, my psychologist on the other hand...

My avatar is from an iMac with the Photobooth program. You're all lucky that this is the photo I chose versus the one with my already huge forehead.
