    HHSS with UQ?

    Hi Guys,
I purchased an UQ to increase my temperature range and was thinking of keeping the SS waterproof cover on the HH Exped as a vapor barrier. No space blanket or OCF pad.

Thinking this would prevent any perspiration from building up in the UQ.
What do you think? Is this a good idea or not? I use a down sleeping bag also not an TQ if that makes a difference.

    thanks

Pretty sure the vapor burrier is supposed to be in between you and the UQ. Don't remember why exactly. If you do a search you may find out. Sorry I can't be of more assistance.

Hi Chris, Thanks for the response. Yes I had planned to attach the UQ to the outside of the SS. So the VB would be the SS. I really hope this will work because I like how the SS come up around the hammock and SB. Giving you a little more protection on the sides.

Ohhh, I see. Yes, I believe that will work just fine. Of course I'm just a noob and I really don't know a whole lot about it but from what I've read here that should work. I'm sure somebody in the know will chime in.

Hi OutandBack. I think you can use your UQ and HH SS in a number of configurations.
But what works for some does not work for others.
You will find many treads touching upon this subject if you surf HF.
Here is my personal experience from my last 3 outings.

    Hi BlazeAway,
Thank you for the links. Both are excellent trip reports and the pictures are beautiful. The video slow pan around camp was very enjoyable to watch.

I have several configurations I want to try once all my gear arrives.
You covered a couple of them in your reports.

ya it will work no problem,
are you a heavy sweater or do you notice alot of condesation when you wake up. with a uq you can always leave a gap at the foot end or the head end to let some air flow in. idk what uq you have or how much it weighs but you can save alot by leaving on of the two behind. i have used the ss down below freezing and didnt have any problems, though it does have a steep learning curve.
but to say the least the ss uc does make a good but heavy vapor barrier.

here is my thread about what i have been doing with a uq and ss in alaska and i compare the two
