I will be there with my mom and brother.
I'm planning on being there. Last I heard the spring at the shelter on Springer Mountain was dry. If I don't hear anything different I will bring a couple of gallons of water, it is 0.7 mile from the parking lot to the shelter.

There's a chance I might be able to come. If I can I plan on doing a section hike from Tuesday till Friday and I'll need someone to help shuttle me around. I've done Amicalola to Neels Gap and want to do the next section. I'd like to do Neels Gap to Hiawassee (US 76) or reverse and leave my truck at Neels Gap. I'm just not sure if I can make it that far yet. I'll have to look at my maps and see what's possible.

I'm thinking about going. Barring a monsoon. Which we could use around here.

The AT in Georgia gets harder the further north you go and it is probably harder hiking it southbound, particularly Blue Mountain and Rocky Mountain. Right now I would keep an eye on the water situation in Georgia. Someone posted this link a week or so ago https://01ef580.netsolstores.com/ind...n=Custom&ID=15 .
A couple of months ago Joe came up from Panama City to backpack some with me and we were going to backpack from Springer to Neels Gap and then drive over to the Chattooga River and hike the Chattooga Trail to make sure we could find water but we didn't get too far before both of us developed ankle problems.
You can probably find help with a shuttle with someone at Springer that will be heading out in that direction but you might want to post on the Yahoo groups site as well. I live south of there but if you can't find someone going that way I can shuttle you.

Does anyone plan on hiking in from Amacalola? My brother and I are thinking about it.
Yeah, that would require you to carry a whole lot of water. If we did hike up my mom wouldn't. She plans on driving to the FS road, and hiking the mile down. So I would probably put a good supply of water in her car. It's a bit of a hike to refil water, but aren't we out there to hike anyways?
i'll be there!! but hiking from the parking lotat fs42
